The collection consists of a letter from Margaret Mitchell to Louisville, Georgia insurance agent James B. Polhill. She is apparently responding to a piece of fan mail he sent previously. She responds his request for an autograph and his comparison of her to "Miss Melly" (referring to Melanie Hamilton Wilkes from Gone with the Wind). Accompanying this letter is a follow up letter from Polhill thanking her for her generosity. Also included is a newspaper clipping from 1967 August 31 entitled "Louisville's Polhill Has Devoted Life to CSRA [Central Savannah River Area] Growth".

The collection consists of correspondence, writings, photographs, printed material and media. Most of the material in the collections concerns Myrick's work as a consultant on the movie Gone with the Wind. The correspondence includes memos to and from Myrick regarding her suggestions on the movie set; the writings include a typescript of the diary Myrick wrote in Hollywood while an advisor for the movie. From her diary Myrick sent back material for her columns in the Macon Telegraph and these columns were edited by Richard Harwell and published in 1982 as White Columns in Hollywood. Also included are examples of the columns and articles Myrick wrote for the Macon Telegraph from 1928 until her retirement in 1967. Photographs are both personal and professional in nature, depicting Myrick and her travels as well as Margaret Mitchell and Gone with the Wind.
